Factors Affecting Indian Climate

India's Climate:

  • The ' tropical monsoon climate' is found in the the Indian region.
  • if the climate of Indra can be described by any one word, it  is 'monsoon' is the base of Indian climate.
  •  The monsoon is a seasonal alternation of winds move from land to sea in the six months of winter and from sea to land in the six months of summer.
  • The monsoon is characteristic of southerns and southeastern Asia and holds substantial economic importance. That is why government of India's  budget is called 'monsoon gambling' Because an the year of famine, most of the expenditure of the Government budget for that year is spent in famine relief works.
  • The monsoon can be divided it into two periods, dry  and humid.
  • The dry season includes the cold dry season and the summer season, while the humid period includes the 'Monsoon arrival and withdrawal period'.
  • Factors Affecting India’s Climate

    Latitude: The Tropic of Cancer (23°30’ N) divides the country into the tropical zone (South of this line) and the sub-tropical zone (North of this line). The line runs from the Rann of Kuchchh (West) to Mizoram (East). All the remaining area, North of Tropic, lies in sub-tropics. So, India’s climate has characteristics of tropical as well as sub-tropical climates.

    Altitude: Mountains in the North of India have an average elevation of about 6000 m, whereas on the coastal areas as well as islands, maximum elevation is about      30 m. The Indian sub-continent experiences milder winters as compared to Central Asia because of the Himalayas which prevent the cold winds from entering the sub-continent.
